WALKING DOGS AT THE ANIMAL SHELTER

This week, I volunteered at an animal shelter where I helped by walking the dogs. Spending time with the dogs outside their kennels was rewarding, as it gave them a chance to exercise, explore, and take a break from the shelter environment. Some of the dogs were very energetic, while others were more cautious, so I had to adjust my approach and be patient with each one. Walking them made me realize how important simple activities are for their physical health and emotional well-being.

This experience connects to CAS outcomes such as service, empathy, and commitment. By volunteering my time, I was able to support the shelter and contribute to the care of the animals in a meaningful way. The experience helped me develop responsibility and awareness of the needs of others, especially those who cannot advocate for themselves. Overall, it reminded me that service can take many forms and that even small actions can make a positive difference.
