IB MENTORSHIP
This year I became a mentor for an 11th grade student who just started the IB program. The school set up a system where every new IB student is paired with a 12th grader, and I was matched with a girl who has a very similar schedule to mine—we share almost all the same subjects, except she takes psychology while I take economics. She’s really sweet, and I’m excited to be someone she can turn to as she begins the challenges of IB.
This experience ties into CAS outcomes of collaboration and commitment. Being a mentor gives me the chance to share advice, answer questions, and help someone adjust to the demanding workload that I remember facing just last year. It also encourages reflection, because I can look back on how much I’ve grown since starting IB and use that to guide her. I hope I can support her not just academically, but also by helping her stay motivated and balanced through the program.
