MAKING SEA-THEMED CANDLES

This week, I tried a new creative activity—making candles using melted wax from small candles and pouring it into a seashell mold. I’ve always loved the ocean, so creating sea-themed candles felt like a fun way to bring that atmosphere into something handmade. I carefully melted the wax, chose soft colors, and poured it into the shells with a wick placed in the center. Once they cooled and hardened, the result was beautiful—small, delicate candles that looked like they belonged on a beach. The process was slow and peaceful, and it felt really nice to create something from scratch.

This activity allowed me to explore the CAS learning outcome of creativity, experimenting with materials and design to make something personal and unique. I also practiced planning and problem-solving, especially when working with hot wax and figuring out how to position the wicks correctly inside the curved shell shapes. It reminded me that creativity doesn’t have to be complicated—sometimes the simplest materials can lead to the most satisfying results. I’d love to try more variations in the future or even gift some to friends.
