Getting Back into Running

This week, I went for my first run of the year after not running at all during the winter. It was a lot harder than I expected—my stamina was low, and I got tired really quickly. The weather was finally nice enough to run outside, so I decided to push myself and see how far I could go. Even though it felt like a struggle at times, I managed to complete 5 kilometers. I listened to my favorite music while I ran, which made the experience more enjoyable and surprisingly relaxing, even during the tougher parts. It helped me stay motivated and made the whole run feel more like a mental reset. I’m hoping that with a bit more consistency, I’ll be able to reach 7 kilometers next time.

This run helped me work toward several CAS learning outcomes. I demonstrated perseverance and commitment by continuing the run even when it got tough and I felt like stopping. I also showed initiative by setting a personal challenge and taking the first step toward getting back into a healthy habit. This experience increased my awareness of the need for physical well-being and highlighted an area for personal growth—building back my endurance.
