Library Volunteering with Friends

This week, I volunteered at the school library with a few of my friends. Our task was to put stickers in books to label them with the correct library codes, helping organize and catalog them properly. It might sound simple, but the experience was actually really enjoyable. We chatted and laughed while we worked, and it became a fun way to bond while doing something productive. It felt good to contribute to a space that supports learning for so many students, and knowing our work made the librarian’s job a little easier made it even more meaningful.

Through this experience, I achieved several CAS learning outcomes. I demonstrated collaboration and engagement with others by working effectively as part of a team to complete our library task. I also showed commitment and perseverance in service by consistently contributing time and effort throughout the activity. Additionally, I recognized and considered the ethics of choices and actions by understanding how our small role in organizing books contributes to the broader goal of making educational resources more accessible and useful for the school community. This experience reminded me that even simple tasks can have a meaningful impact and strengthen relationships through shared service.
