Inspiring Young Dancers
During ballet class this week, a group of little girls came to watch us dance. Seeing their wide eyes and excited expressions brought back so many memories—I was once that small, standing at the edge of the studio, watching the older students dance. It was nostalgic to see them, reminding me of how far I’ve come in my ballet journey. Their presence also made me more aware of my own dancing. Knowing that they were watching, I wanted to dance my best—to inspire them, just as I was once inspired by dancers before me.
Through this experience, I am achieving several CAS learning outcomes. I am demonstrating commitment and perseverance by continuously working on my technique and striving to improve. I am also recognizing the importance of ethics, as I become more aware of the influence I have on younger dancers and the responsibility to set a good example. Additionally, this moment allowed me to engage with the global community of ballet, as I reflected on the shared experiences of dancers who inspire and support each other. Seeing those young dancers reminded me why I fell in love with ballet in the first place, and that passion drives me to keep improving every day.
