Preparing for The Snow Queen
Now that the holiday season has ended, rehearsals for our annual production of The Snow Queen are in full swing. This year, I have the unique opportunity to dance the role of the Crow, a lively and quirky character that adds a lot of charm to the story. While the costume isn’t my favorite (it’s not the most flattering), I’ve chosen to fully embrace the role and give it my all. With the show date fast approaching, the atmosphere in rehearsals has become incredibly intense. There’s still a lot to refine, and tensions are high, but this energy is also driving all of us to work harder and support each other as we prepare to bring this magical production to life.
Through this process, I’ve achieved several CAS learning outcomes. I’ve demonstrated perseverance and commitment by dedicating myself to the rehearsals, even when the atmosphere feels overwhelming or the choreography challenging. I’ve also worked on collaboration by actively engaging with my fellow dancers and making adjustments to ensure the performance flows smoothly as a group. Lastly, I’ve developed new skills by exploring a character role that requires expressive and unique movements, which has helped me grow as a performer. This experience has shown me how hard work and teamwork can transform even stressful moments into opportunities for growth.
