Ballet Practice Without a Teacher
Now that our Christmas break is over, we had our first ballet lesson this week. However, our teacher was absent due to illness, so we had to conduct the entire class on our own, guided only by the pianist. It was a real challenge to remember all the combinations, especially after such a long break. Despite the initial confusion, we worked together and managed to complete the lesson. The experience pushed us out of our comfort zone, but it also allowed us to recall movements, stay focused, and keep the energy flowing through the class. Although it was tough without our teacher’s guidance, I felt a sense of pride in how we took responsibility and supported each other throughout the session.
Through this experience, I achieved several CAS learning outcomes. I developed new skills by practicing independence and leadership during the lesson. I also demonstrated perseverance and commitment by continuing the class despite the absence of our teacher. Furthermore, this experience reinforced the importance of collaboration, as we relied on each other to recall the combinations and stay on track. Reflecting on this, I realized that challenges can become valuable learning moments, helping us grow both as dancers and as individuals.
