My Journey Tutoring a Friend in Math
This past week, I tutored my younger friend in math, and it was both challenging and rewarding. We worked on algebra, focusing on equations and problem-solving strategies. Explaining these concepts was difficult at times, especially since math has always been a tricky subject for me. However, reviewing old topics and finding ways to make them clearer helped both of us grow. By the end of our sessions, it felt satisfying to see my friend gain confidence in solving problems, and I felt proud of the effort I put into helping.
Through this experience, I achieved several CAS learning outcomes. I identified my strengths and areas for growth, realizing I could improve my ability to explain ideas more clearly and adapt to different learning styles. I demonstrated perseverance and commitment by preparing for each session and revisiting math concepts I struggled with in the past. Additionally, I developed collaboration skills, as tutoring required patience, active listening, and teamwork to ensure my friend could fully understand each topic.
