Baking Gingerbread Cookies: A Sweet CAS Experience

This year, I had the chance to bake gingerbread cookies twice, and each experience was special in its own way. The first time, I baked them with a classmate as part of our CAS project for Pie Day at school. We worked together to measure ingredients, roll out the dough, and cut out shapes, ensuring we had enough cookies for everyone to enjoy. The second time, I baked them at home with my family. Once the cookies were ready, my sister, my friend, and I decorated them with icing and sprinkles, turning them into colorful and festive treats. Both experiences were filled with laughter and creativity, making the process just as enjoyable as the result.

Through these activities, I achieved several CAS learning outcomes. I planned and initiated the activity by organizing the baking sessions and ensuring we had all the ingredients and tools we needed. I worked collaboratively with others, whether it was with my classmate during our CAS project or my family and friends at home. I also demonstrated creativity by decorating the cookies with unique designs and patterns. Finally, I reflected on the joy of bringing people together through something as simple as baking, realizing how it can foster connection and teamwork.
